Meet our Apprentices making their own success stories

Jake's Story

At school, Jake loved design technology and was always interested in how things were constructed.

After acquiring some basic product knowledge at a manufacturer, Jake joined NRG Riverside to allow him to strengthen his knowledge and skills working on more advanced systems.

Ross’s Story

Like many people leaving school at 16, Ross didn’t know what he wanted to do. After some work experience with heavy vehicles he knew that it suited him.

Starting his apprenticeship as an HGV Technician at NRG Riverside has enabled  Ross to develop his skillset, expand his knowledge, and he grasps every opportunity to learn.

Bradley’s Story

Bradley took an engineering course in college. “Towards the end of year 2, the maths was getting really hard and I didn’t want to waste 2 more years on the course and not get a qualification.”

After being recommended for an apprenticeship at NRG Riverside by a friend’s Dad, Bradley started in 2018, and has never looked back.

“It’s always different here and it’s nice to do something to get experience on a lot of different motors. You work on Mercedes, DAF, Volvo, Scania, Dennis, Johnston and Scarab sweepers, then you’ve got electric vehicles and vans – there are about 20 different manufacturers you’re working with, and you eventually get quite good at all 20 of them!”

We’re big supporters of Apprenticeships at NRG Riverside, and each year are joined by Apprentices who make a significant contribution to our business and, we’re delighted to say, enjoy a long career with us.

This year, we are looking to recruit 12 new Apprentices to our teams and if you are excited about a career working as an HGV Technician, working on a variety of different makes and models of vehicles, with full support and training , we would like to hear from you.

“I have always enjoyed engineering, so working as an HGV Technician is a dream come true. No two days are ever the same, some days are harder than others, but we work through every situation as a team.”
