Recognising Engineering Talent at NRG Riverside
Developing skilled engineers has always been an important part of NRG Riverside’s commitment to supporting commercial vehicle operators across the UK.
From apprentices taking their first steps into the industry to experienced technicians continuing to develop their skills, investing in people is fundamental to maintaining the high standards our customers expect.
That commitment was reflected once again at the IRTE Northern Centre Young Road Transport Engineer of the Year Awards 2026, where three of our colleagues were recognised for their achievements.

Gary Taylor – Highly Commended, Engineer Award
Kian Clarke – Highly Commended, Apprentice Engineer Award
Having three finalists recognised across three categories is a fantastic achievement and highlights the dedication, professionalism and technical expertise within our engineering teams.
These successes also continue a strong tradition of engineering excellence at NRG Riverside. In 2025, Declan Gillespie, one of our Level 3 HGV Apprentices, received the Chris Grimes Engineering Endeavour Award, demonstrating the continued strength of our apprenticeship and technician development programmes.
Behind every award is the support of experienced colleagues who invest their time in developing others. We’d like to thank Anthony Glorman, Allan Jameson and Kevin Latimer for their continued commitment to mentoring and supporting the next generation of engineers.
As the commercial vehicle industry continues to evolve, investing in people remains just as important as investing in vehicles and technology. Recognition like this reflects not only individual achievement but the collaborative culture that exists across our workshop network.
